About the Author
Since I was very young, my head has always been filled with stories: make-believe worlds and characters that transcended the here and now. While I went to college for journalism in search of a “sensible” career, I eventually pursued my love of writing into a double master’s degree in creative writing and publishing — while also self-publishing my first novel, The Showstopper.
This passion has led me to pursue both traditional and independent publishing for my works as a hybrid author, as well as building a side hustle as a freelance editor. While I love all kinds of genres from science fiction and historical fiction to horror, fantasy, creative nonfiction, crime drama, and more, my primary focus as an author is historical fantasy: that is, using a factual time and place from history as my setting and reimagining it to spin adventures that, while grounded in reality, also have that crazy, zany spark of something truly fantastical.
Outside of writing, I do my best to balance my other hobbies any way I can: I’m a big fan of music and an amateur guitar player and singer; I’m a third-degree Black Belt in Tang Soo Do; I let my inner critic out as a movie and TV buff; I play pretty much any kind of board or card game you can imagine; I travel whenever I can, both domestically and internationally; and I train for and run Spartan races, as well as frequently going out in nature for long hikes, in my ongoing quest to stay active.
